Seems I still have the “mama bear” instincts in full force. One of our girls came up to me just before we were leaving last night to inform me a teacher had hit her, along with another of our girls! Instantly my protection mode went into action. I asked her to tell me exactly what happened (I’ve found many kids/adults say they are “abused” which can mean anything from being talked to harshly to being hit). She said the teacher asked her if she had chemical in her hair (I had to ask what that meant….from my understanding it’s a substance they put in their hair to give it the “wet look”). When she said she and the other girl had not used chemical the teacher didn’t believe her and proceeded to humiliate these girls by taking them to the staff room, having them lie face down on the ground and be hit with a stick across their lower back.
One girl has a fairly large lump just above the elbow and a bruise across her lower back (she said the teacher missed her back and had hit her arm) and the other girl has a bruise across her lower back. Thankfully nothing serious….other than THE TEACHER HIT THEM!
Chuck immediately called the principal, no answer. He then text him, no reply. When we arrived at C4KK this morning Chuck again text him stating “call me immediately”. To which he got a response “let me get a report and then get back to you.”
That’s where we are as of this morning…waiting. Although Chuck has text the principal again saying he is not patient when it comes to abuse of our kids.
I have emphasized to both girls that NO ONE has the right to hit them and explained the difference between discipline and abuse. What the teacher did was abuse, plain and simple. I gave each a big hug, praised them for telling me, told them we would take care of this and protect them.
You know, I bet this teacher even has her hair done yet she’s hitting my child because she thinks the child is doing something to her hair.
