Looks like construction moves faster towards the end because there are many “cosmetic” changes yet slow because the kids want it done already so they can move in!
Constructing takes funds and it seems I’m putting some sort of plea for funds in my posts lately. We are very thankful however God continues to provide food so the kids are eating everyday! But back to the plea…tables will run about $175 each and we are looking to put 3 on the veranda. The tables will be “picnic” style and there is room for 3 tables, each able to seat 10-12 people, on the veranda. This will serve as the dining hall for the kids, also a place to do homework, read, chat and maybe some craft projects!
While picking sukuma one day with Ann, she mentioned how nice it will be to hang up clothes and not have to walk in the mud!
This will become a thing of the past once the well is complete (see this previous post for information on the well). The neighbor where they get water has been very gracious in not charging for the water but it is still a trek (approximately 1/2 mile, one-way) and has to be done at least once a day.
The shamba is coming along nicely…sukuma is being harvested while the cabbage, tomato, banana and another type of fruit tree (which I do not know the English word for) are growing.
The pipe you see sticking out of the ground (to the right of the latrines) is for a double sink…this will be used both for washing hands and washing clothes.
You see, a lot has happened over the past few days and there is still more to show you! I bet the anticipation is killing you, isn’t it!?
