Confrontation is definitely NOT my idea of a good time. However, being here in Kenya and each of us (Chuck and I) having our own “duties” at C4KK has pushed me farther than I’m used to drifting.
I recently had to have a heart to heart with an employee, after several months of trying to deal with the situation on a more friendly/less employer basis. It finally came to a point where it had to be addressed and dealt with. Not my idea of a good day but it was something that had to be done. My first thought….go to God. I prayed about the situation, Chuck prayed about it and I asked a close friend to pray.
Guess what?! Prayer works! I’m probably not telling you anything you don’t already know, but instead of feeling defensive and ready for a fight I simply stated my expectations for this person and the job they are to do. I did receive an apology, which was nice to hear and was able to clear the air.
The conversation ended with my telling this person there were no hard feelings but we would be on a “wait and see” basis for their future at C4KK….will this persons actions match what they are saying….we’ll see.
I’m still praying for the situation, but I am thankful He saw me through this meeting.
Today though I’m relaxing a bit and watching The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe with the kids….watching a movie is always a nice treat 🙂
