I can’t believe it’s been 5 days since I wrote the last blog post…so sorry! Visitors from First Baptist Church New Baltimore have all arrived safely back in the States, Rod and Bobbie (who stayed a few extra days) also arrived safely in the States and now life begins to return to normal at C4KK….here’s a look at normal:
1) The primary kids were supposed to go to tutoring Monday the 13th but the Ministry of Education decided to enforce the law that says no tutoring during breaks. The kids went to school Monday only to be sent home.
2) We then organized with two teachers to come to C4KK on Monday the 20th so we could have personalized tutoring for the kids (especially the ones lagging behind in their classes). On Saturday one teacher backed out.
3) Saturday afternoon I went to use the sink to wash my hands and found no water coming from the tap. I asked around and was told it hadn’t been flowing since morning…yet no one told us about it. The kids are having to go to the neighbors for water until the problem can be figured out.
4) Wednesday the 15th we ran out of water at our home. Found out three days later it had been pumped but there was a problem somewhere between there and our home. Today we are still waiting for water.
5) Government officials decided last week to designate Monday as a Muslim holiday.
6) Dealing with getting secondary students back to school….paying fees, shopping and enforcing policies…fun times.
There’s a look into our normalcy right now (and believe me this isn’t half of what’s happening!). I have to be honest and say there are days when I just want to throw my hands up and quit but God never fails me and gets me through the day to start again the next.
