Another new addition to our blog…Wednesday’s Song.  Since this is a first time try, please comment on whether or not the audio works for you, I would hate to have audio on here every Wednesday that no one can hear, thanks!

I listen to a lot of music and many songs touch my heart in one way or another.  Some bring praise and worship to my day, some bring conviction, while others bring repentance.  Music many times triggers such deep emotions for me and I was thinking the other day of what Heaven must sound like with all those angels and saints singing!

So I thought I’d post a song every week and give you an explanation as to why I’m sharing this particular song.

This weeks song is What Now by Steven Curtis Chapman and this song convicted me last week.  I was trying to figure out how God wants me to share His kingdom with others?  This song came on and I instantly knew God was speaking to me through it.  The Holy Spirit was asking me rather pointedly to go downtown with my daughter, Tarrin, and help serve the homeless in Phoenix.  (She does this every weekend on Sundays)  I tried to come up with excuses for not going, for not obeying, but that burden stayed on my heart until I left Sunday morning with her downtown.

Guess what, the Lord blessed that time with those folks – He showed me His love in so many different ways.  Here are just a few (names are changed for privacy):

  • In Karen, another volunteer who came with us, as she spoke with Randy.  He is a homeless, alcoholic and said he was “too wicked” for God to love him.  She stayed by his side talking, encouraging and telling him of her past struggles.  Before saying goodbye he prayed and thanked God for the time he had to talk with her.  Karen promised to pray for Randy throughout the week and asked him to come back next week and talk some more.
  • In Pat, another homeless man who when asked if he wanted water said he’d like prayer.  When we started talking with him he said he would not denounce the name of Christ or refuse prayer.  We told him of Christ’s living water and then prayed with him, held his hand and gave him some cold water.
  • In the gentleman who caused a commotion at the table where we serve bagels – he came back afterwards and apologized to everyone involved.  The beginning of true repentance and possibly coming to the saving grace of the Lord – amen!

I don’t know what tomorrow holds (Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. Matthew 6:34 The Message) but I know I want to be obedient to His call whenever and where ever He calls me, without making excuses.
