Victor Babu (Child Number 160)
Victor attends Nice View Academy in Tala, Kenya and is in Class 2 (2nd grade).
He was born in 2001 in Kitunduni, Kenya. (Many children do not know when their actual birthday is)
His mother works in Athi River and comes home only on the weekends. (I talked with moms in Kenya who are “house help” and live with their employer, they are usually only able to visit their child/children 1 or 2 days out of the week, if at all)
Victor’s dad works in Nairobi, Kenya. (Although both parents are working, they are unable to afford education for their children)
His grandmother takes care of him while his parents are away. (We met grandparents who are taking care of 1, 2, 3 or more grandchildren because parents are working away from the home or have abandoned the family or have died)
Victor’s favorite color is yellow and he likes playing with toy cars. (During our last visit to Kenya we brought several toys for the kids to play with at the Academy and to see the joy on their faces was priceless!)
He helps his grandmother at home washing utensils and sweeping. (These are common chores for younger children)
After his chores are finished he likes studying. (Since many of the children do not have toys at home, other than their own home-made items, studying and reading were favorite their favorite was to pass the time)
Victor is among several children who are ready for sponsorship. To choose a child to sponsor, please visit our Sponsorship Gallery.
