Ben Mwau (Child Number MC117)
Ben’s father died and his mother remarried and moved away. He was living with his grandmother when his uncle brought him to Mercy Child Foundation. (this is not an unusual situation in Kenya)
He doesn’t remember when his birthday is but he was born in Nairobi. (again, this is not unusual for these children)
He has one brother and one sister who also live here.
His favorite color is pink and he enjoys playing football (American soccer).
Ben’s favorite class is Kiswahili because that is the class he passes. His least favorite class is Science because it’s hard. (in 2009 Ben repeated Class 2, or 2nd grade)
His duties at Mercy include sweeping, mopping and fetching water.
After his chores he likes to study. (Mercy has no electricity so when the kids study they all gather around one lantern, if they have kerosene for it or a torch, flashlight, if they have batteries)
