The past few evenings it’s been raining all night and upon waking we have mist hanging in the air…this is our view when I step outside our front door and look back towards the backyard.
The rain has been long in the evenings which brings a couple of things: 1) we can usually count on the electricity going out when it rains. Why? I have no idea but we were all discussing it and came to the conclusion that the power company doesn’t like to see lightening so they shut down the electricity. A very likely possibility! 2) insects want out of the water so they head towards whatever dry land they can find…my front entryway for one! The other night I came back to the house from Gideon’s (in the picture you can just see his home on the right) and was greeted by a cricket, a frog and a spider. Not my idea of visitors but I had a few friends on Facebook make me laugh with their comments – at least I’m making friends, be thankful it wasn’t a scorpion, a tarantula and a roach , or they are good luck and bring happiness!
Well, I’m not sure about the “making friends” I think I’d rather have the two legged kind, I am thankful they were easily eliminated (at least the spider and cricket, we shooed the frog away from the door) and good luck/happiness, hmmm…God will bring what we need and believe me…contentment is what is coming to me, be it ever so slowly!
We feel so blessed to be here, in this particular family because they are open with us and love us for who we are even if we are strange Americans! They encourage us to ask them questions about their culture and we have learned a lot from them. My attitude is slowly coming around to how God wants me to be…content with little or content with much, but I still have much growing and learning to do. I’m glad God is a faithful God who will patiently move me towards Him.
As I look around the village of Tala I see much want for even the basic necessities and it gives me opportunity every moment to thank God for providing food for us every day and a family to share it with.
