We left around 7 am for Nairobi although Nick’s flight didn’t leave until 11:45 PM! Making a trip to Nairobi is never a one stop trip…if you have things to do there you gather everything up and make one trip to try and get things done. Which is funny because it usually never works that way! But hey you can’t blame a girl for trying.
We met a friend (Oscar), was introduced to his cousin (Joe) -long story but this revolves around immigration and getting our Visa extended, please keep this issue in prayer- and discussed self-sustaining projects. Must say a big thanks to Joe for the wonderful lunch at his restaurant – will need to make sure we stop there again sometime because the food was very good and the atmosphere relaxed.
After lunch we headed to the Sarit Center. This is a western style mall that we wanted to show Nick to see the difference between the village of Tala and the progressiveness of Nairobi. By the time we finished looking around it was 5:30pm and time to head to the airport – wanted to make sure we had enough time to get there because you never know about the traffic jams.
Surprise! We sat in a jam for about 45 minutes (the first jam) and Chuck kept reassuring Nick we had plenty of time and not to worry about his flight. This is one of the reasons for the jam:
I have no idea how long we sat after that because a good friend, Valerie, called me and I spent the time chatting with her…all the way to the airport…thanks Valerie for helping me pass the time so nicely!
Got Nick to the airport around 8pm – plenty of time! Thank you Lord for moving traffic when it needed to move. Since we had an hour before Nick had to check in we went to the airport restaurant, Simba, where Oscar works and had a soda before saying our goodbyes. Then it was time to put Nick in the queue, say goodbye and head back to Tala.
Another visitor has come and gone but I pray it’s just the beginning or part of the process of their clear purpose in the service of the Lord…
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
“…the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.” Psalm 33:11
The guest room is now empty…any takers?!
