Josphat recently came up to me and said “mum, I have a big problem.” The first thought that came to mind was “yea, I know you don’t have a pencil or stubbed your toe.” I’m a mom of four and I’ve seen some “big” problems from them too at this age. But then my mind went immediately to many of these kids’ situations…maybe his big problem was he wasn’t eating at home, or has an abusive family, or no place to sleep when he goes home on holiday, or, or,or…so many things could be a big problem for him. He handed me a folded up piece of paper and told me to read the letter, it would explain his big problem. After reading it I asked him if I could relay his message to all of you. Here it is – exactly as he wrote it:
Hi: Tammy
I hope that your fine as I am. I was just want to say thank you for what you have provided me, like shoes (school and tennis shoes). I am soo happy because of that.
Another thing is about our home, In our home I have one brother and I don’t have a sister. And also I usually live with my grandmother. (Josphat is a boarder at Nice View but during holidays and breaks lives with his grandmother) Sometimes she does not feel well because she is very old, she is 70 yrs. Her name is Agnes Nzioka. And my brother name is Peter and he is my best friend.
I usually live with my grandmother because my parent’s died. And please I was just want you to find for me a someone who can be my sponsered and God will bless. And I’m working hard in school, and on my studies and my subjects.
Thank you.
God Bless you: Josphat Wambua

Here’s just a sample of what sponsorship means to the kids (these are excerpts from recent letters the kids wrote to their US sponsors):
“Let me first of all thank the Lord for giving this chance to write to you.”
“I am very greatful for your kindness and may God bless you”
“Let me pen off by thanking you for your support and may God bless you.”
“Thank you for being my sponsor. I always pray for you.”
“Am looking forward to hear from you. I even long to see you.”
“I thank God because of you. You have been of much help to me towards education.”
This one I had to put in because I love this girls confidence! “Only one boy who competes with me (in class work) but have been showing him dust all through.”
Most of the kids also expressed their desire to do better in school, the class that was difficult for them, how they mastered certain subjects and their home situation. They also requested a few of you to come visit them!
The easy part of sponsorship is filling out the form…the hard part (I believe) is choosing a child from our Sponsorship Gallery. Thank you for your prayerful consideration in sponsoring a child.
