This post has been a long time in the making with the first draft being written way back in December 2009!  It’s a specific theme that’s come up several times for me throughout the past year.  Between December 2009 and April 2010 I was trying to figure out how in the world God could use me in Kenya.  I’m not a “stand in front of the crowd and preach or teach” type so how could I be a part of advancing the Kingdom?  (Who knows, one day He may see fit to plop me somewhere in that capacity, but I know if He does He’ll be teaching me and giving me grace along the way to do it.)

Since May 2010 we’ve been on the ground here in Tala, Kenya and each day God shows me how to use His gifts for His glory.  He has given me the desire to take photos and report on what’s happening here, showing the reader how God is moving and working in the lives of the people He has brought us in contact with.  Whether that be through distribution of shoes and telling the kids God provides or working with individuals on a farming project and seeing God’s provision of food by the work of their hands.  I have no idea who reads the blog or who sees the photos but I’m using the gifts God gave me to do what He has called me to do, where He has called me to do it.

I remind you to keep using the gift God gave you…Now let it grow, as a small flame grows into a fire.  2 Timothy 1:6

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.  Romans 12:6

At the end of the day I get to relay the stories, testimonies and pictures to you, praying they are an encouragement and affirmation God is working here in Kenya and through the working of the Holy Spirit perhaps re-igniting, fanning or starting the flame God wants burning in you.
