Today Pauline invited me to tag along as she visited a few people and since my day didn’t have any plans I accepted.  Our first stop was at Agnes and Titus’ home, who happen to be neighbors and he is an elder at the church Pauline and Gideon attend.  It was encouraging to hear their testimonies regarding the past year and how they gave all glory to God and knew it was Him that got them through…church troubles, job issues, health problems to name a few.  Agnes said she was thankful for all they went through only because she knew that meant satan was really trying to attack but God protected them throughout.  Plus I was surprised to find Titus in the kitchen making tea and eggs for his visitors!  It was kind of like being in an American home 🙂  Not only was my heart uplifted by listening to this wonderful couple who love the Lord but I was given a fat chicken…guess what’s for dinner tonight!?

We then drove back home to drop off the chicken, pick up some beans (for our next visit) and refill my water bottle.  After getting the chicken settled (wonder if he knew his time was up?) we were off to Evelyn’s home.  Evelyn is a hip, young woman who kind of reminds me of my daughters.  She is a teacher at Nice View Academy and also Pauline’s niece.  Evelyn served us a delicious lunch of rice, potatoes, carrots and skuma with bananas for dessert.  She lives in a one room apartment which is about 10 x 10…her bed, kitchen, tv, table, and showering area are all right there and the bathroom is outside her apartment shared with the other tenants.  I asked her how she liked living on her own, “I enjoy it but it can be very lonely.”   Evelyn was a gracious host (even having a surprise visitor, me, show up with Pauline) and gave me the pineapple we didn’t eat as a gift – guess what’s for dessert tonight!?

On the way home we stopped to pick up a couple of cabbages to go along with our chicken tonight.  It certainly wasn’t a typical Saturday for me but it sure was a nice one even after coming home to find the electricity was off…again.
