Yesterday’s blog post listed out my plans for the day…how did I do? Well let’s see….
Instead of organizing school supply shopping I told the secondary kids they had one more day to add any items they may have missed to their list. Wouldn’t you know it most had something they had forgotten! Will organize on Monday or Tuesday.
Did talk with the boys about missing porridge and my mama bear instincts kicked in. Corruption begins early here and the boys told us stories of Form 2 prefects (students in charge of other students) pushing kids out of line, having 2, 3 even 4 cups of porridge before others get one. It was a good conversation but it just makes me dislike this school system even more.
The kids did write letters to their sponsors and I am hoping to scan them today or tomorrow and send…sorry sponsors.
Talked about sugar intake and basically put the kids on notice that if the sugar intake continues at it’s current rate (up and above what we should be using) then drastic measures will be taken. We told them we are trusting them, now that they know the situation, to handle themselves responsibly.
Tooth check did not happen, but everyone was told to come to me if they have an issue…teeth, eyes, medical, etc.
All in all not bad…I especially liked the conversations we had with the primary and secondary kids. Feels like what’s supposed to happen here…does that make sense?
Anyway today we received a surprise and our good friend, Charlotte, may be coming to Tala for a visit! Another American visitor so soon, who would have imagined! Thank you Father for all the small things (water is flowing, electricity is on, to name a few) and the larger, more noticeable things (friends coming to visit).
