Guess I really can’t compare yesterday to today…they are totally different days with totally different situations.  Yesterday I met with the secondary students (who are sponsored outside C4KK) to discuss grades, policies, etc.  It went fairly well other than one student not showing up, one student who we are trying to figure out if he was kicked out of school (student says no, fellow students say yes), one student who needs to get us some sort of grades/marks for Term 2 before we can move forward with paying since she was on probation Term 1, one student wanting to transfer from his school (he says during the past year and a half he’s missed 3 months of school because of student/teacher strikes) and thankfully 4 students were doing ok in school (B’s & C’s).

After that meeting I simply went home and vegged in front of the tv with MASH and a movie.  All the while snacking on some yummy treats the group had left me!  Chuck and I also commented how nice it was to have water flowing from the tap and being able to switch on a light!  God is certainly good to us 🙂

Now for today….so far so good.  It’s 12:30pm, the tutors were here at 8am ready to teach and the kids were ready to learn (we had to get tough with them telling them to be ready at 8 instead of cleaning tables, floors or running around getting their school supplies ready).  I dropped the ball on a field trip (since the kids didn’t go for tutoring at school I didn’t get any reminders about the trip and I, silly  me, didn’t write myself a note) and had to organize payment for that trip.  Five of the kids will be seeing Parliament, the National Archives and other historical/educational sites.  And then picked out another 10 kids who were invited by HOREC on another field trip to be taken in September.

Also talked with Peter, our social worker, about the secondary boys…they are asking for extra spending money to buy bread at school because, as they are saying, sometimes there isn’t enough porridge for them at breakfast.  Peter called the principal and was told the only complaint he has gotten is from the cook saying there is porridge left over because the boys want bread instead!  Will have to figure this out this afternoon.

This afternoon I’ll also be organizing the list of school supplies needed for this term (both secondary and primary), having the kids write a letter to their sponsor, scanning said letters and hopefully sending the letters, discussing sugar intake with the kids (way too much) and finally checking teeth to see who needs to see the dentist next (perhaps because of the sugar intake!?)!

Not sure if all that will get done, but I did have a highlight this morning…I got to talk with Tarrin, who is serving in India, and hear her beautiful voice!  I guess after encouraging her that even in the mundane we are serving God I need to listen to my own encouragement.  It’s living life following God’s will for what He has me doing…even through sugar talk, field trip organization and whatever else the day throws at me!
