Having a flat tire in Tala on a market day is never something I would suggest anyone experience, and I can tell you this from experience.  Granted Chuck changed the flat but not before several people yell out “mzungu” and a couple guys wanting to help (for a little something of course).

But he changed the tire, found out our diet coke lady is out of soda….again and we left to get the tire repaired.

We did get the tire fixed and met a mechanic.  Seems he might be able to help us with some repairs and maintenance on the truck!  So that was good.

Then we show up at C4KK to no electricity (found out from a neighbor later in the day it was a scheduled outage, but of course when I called Kenya Power earlier they didn’t say anything to that affect).

During our blackout I was able to arrange for shoes & backpacks to be repaired, handled the monthly eggs/sausage/bread expenses, school fees for pre-unit kids was settled and class 8 expenses dealt with.

Then we had a board meeting and during it the electricity came back on…yeah!  We finished the board meeting and now it’s 7pm and I wish our home was just a walk away instead of a treacherous drive.

I purposely did not go into too much detail for a couple reasons 1) I wouldn’t want to sound too pessimistic and 2) I’m on my phone (since electricity was out all day I didn’t set up my computer-one of those times I wish I had an Ipad!)

Hopefully we’ll have electricity at home for a shower because it was a crazy kind of day, but come to think of it most days here are!

It’s certainly the good and bad but to be thankful in everything is from the Lord. Kids are happy, eating, playing, going to school and just basically being kids and those are great things to be thankful for!
