That pretty much sums up my Friday and Saturday!
Vertigo – had this all day Friday
Teenagers – Chuck and I raised two girls and two boys through their teenage years (thank you God for helping us with that!) and I think I have a pretty good idea of how teens think and ways they attempt to “convince” me they are right. One of our boys at C4KK said he needed jeans.
Me – do you have any jeans now?
Him – yes, I have two pair that fit and two that don’t
Me – bring me the ones that don’t fit and for now two pair of jeans are fine. We have a lot of pressing issues (school fees and shopping for school necessities, travel for them from relatives and much more daily necessities) that we must look at before buying extras. But you can put jeans on your list for next term.
Him – (not really satisfied) Ok
A week later this same boy came to me:
Him – you said we could talk about the jeans again. Can I get two pair of jeans?
Me – we did talk about this and we are not buying any more jeans right now since you have two pair that are fine.
Him – but one of the pairs is ripped and needs repaired.
Me – I based my decision on what you had told me. Next time give me all the info in the beginning, not when you think you may not be getting what you want.
Him – (definitely not satisfied) Ok
Migraine – Had this terribly during Saturday morning then it subsided but stayed with me all day.
More teenagers – We had a student (not at C4KK) who asked if we could help her with tutoring during the December break. Another student (again, not at C4KK) told us about tutoring that really helped him. I called the first student, asked if she could meet me at 11am to which she said she could. Told her to meet us then at 11am so we could arrange (give her the cash) for tutoring. We also had the second student meet us at the same time to arrange his tutoring and to show the first student where the tutoring would take place. We arrived at 11 to find the second student but not the first. We waited until 12:30 and the first student never showed up so we left. This student did text me (through a friend’s phone) over 2 hours later to say she apologized for being late. I admit I must get over my anger before discussing the issue with her further.
But when all is said and done, I’m thankful I was able to sleep in the truck to help with the vertigo, teach a small lesson to a teenage boy, have a hubby help me through a horrible headache episode, provide tutoring for a boy who says his education is his main priority and will spend any extra time out of school focusing on his relationship with God and the opportunity to teach another student that respecting a persons time shows respect for that person.
There you have my Friday and Saturday and by God’s grace and mercy I’m moving forward.
