What a week it’s been and I can’t believe it’s Friday, but I’m happy (not that we get the weekend off, but it’s pizza night….praying we have electricity when we get home to cook it!)
I won’t go into detail, but suffice it to say it’s been one heck of a crazy, hectic week….no electricity, crazy drivers, lawlessness and 2 funerals. I feel I might sound petty if I go into much detail because after all our friend did lose his wife and 2 of our C4KK kids a grandfather and I can’t imagine how they must feel.
We began Thursday morning at Kenyatta University where a viewing was held before heading to our friend’s family home and the burial site. As we walked up to a shop I read….Canteen, coffee and flowers. Chuck said, honey, look again:
Now isn’t that multi-functional….canteen, coffins and flowers!
Then a 2 hour drive to the family compound where the setting was beautiful for celebrating the life of Maryann. I did not know her well but from the testimonies she touched a lot of peoples lives. Our prayer is the Lord will continue to give strength to the family. I pray also that those who were touched by Maryann will show others the same compassion she showed them through Christ and His everlasting love.
Then it was the 2 hour drive back home….
Yup…we got home around 9pm, no electricity and no water. Thankful God’s mercies are new every morning because I certainly needed some new mercy.
