Yup, it’s labour day here in Kenya and I’m assuming this is the British spelling because that’s how it’s spelled on the calendar.  Anyway, it’s an official holiday but guess what?  Life continues on even during holidays!  Here’s a tiny glimpse of what’s happening today, Labour Day, at C4KK:

I’ve finally received the last of the secondary shopping items.  Most had already been distributed but this is the last of it:

Of course I had a couple kids say “I forgot this or that on my list”….being hard nosed about it and telling them they’ll have to use some of their bread money to purchase what they forgot.  Hopefully this will teach them to think hard about their shopping lists next time.

Workers are plastering the inside of the septic and getting ready to pour the top:

It’s hard to see but the secondary kids were busy this morning putting manure on the newly planted tomato plants:

The previous two photos were taken from atop the mission home….groups, this will be your view from the veranda!

While work was being done in the morning the primary kids were being tutored.  Primary and secondary tutoring will continue until Friday.  Then the primary kids return to school on Monday and secondary return at various times next week.

Speaking of beginning school, the start of each school term means finances are always tight.  And this term is no exception.  We are approximately $1000 short which includes (all approximate amounts) $250 – increase in school fees from what the school had previously told us so we did not have this in the budget, $500 – replacing stolen items (you can read about this issue here) and $250 – tutors who have been hired during the break to help the kids (this has been very beneficial  and the kids are bringing up their grades).

If you are lead to help with any of these (mission home, school fees, stolen items, tutors) please go to our online donation site (allocate mission home to Stack the Stones or the other items to Children’s Home (C4KK) and farm project and write in the comment section what your donation is for).

Thanks for all your support and praying you all have a blessed day!
