Secondary boys are home on mid-term and they’ve come home with requests (big surprise! Yes that was sarcasm!):
- more toilet paper…ok I gave into that one!
- school pants which don’t fit anymore…they brought home the pants that don’t fit (as they are supposed to!) so they could purchase new ones.
- school books….verifying these from the school before purchasing
They may think I enjoy being a meanie but I pray they are learning to be moral, responsible, God-fearing young men…Lord knows this country needs them!
I believe we had somewhat of a breakthrough yesterday too. I was having a conversation with them and got a bit heated and said some things I didn’t really mean….and I could have said them in a nicer way. But later in the day the Holy Spirit convicted me to apologize to them, ask their forgiveness and explain myself.
They listened, I cried and cleared the air with them. I did not want them to leave for school today with those hurtful words in their hearts, especially since we won’t see them again until December when we return from the States.
I explained they are basically the “first-born” kids of C4KK and like all new parents we will make mistakes with them (just ask our first-born Tarrin!). I asked for their patience and understanding as we all go through growing pains. I ended the conversation with an “I love you guys” (but no hugs!)
