That seems to be the most asked question recently!  People want to know what we think of the US, what’s different, are we happy to be back?  Not exactly an easy question to answer but I’ll give it a try.

Yes we are happy to be with family and friends, no doubt, but guess what?  The children’s lives continue on at C4KK and with that comes the stresses of not only the issues but dealing with those issues 1/2 way around the world.  I’m am so thankful Bosco has been handling them to the best of his ability and to you who have been praying for him.

But yes, being around family has been SUCH a blessing!  Especially with some medical issues happening (see Chuck’s newsletter for details).  Seeing my daughter every morning (she leaves Friday for Houston) and knowing I’ll see the other three soon, makes me happy (we did seem Amanda and Mark for about a week).  Someone asked if I were to go back to Kenya right now what would I be sad about missing….that was easy.  At the time I had spent time with three of our kids and going back to Kenya without seeing my son Justin would definitely make me sad.  It wouldn’t be not having eaten at a particular restaurant, or seeing a movie, or driving around town more…it would be missing my son.

Anyway…..

Choices overwhelm me, I’m not used to having them.  Driving is wonderful…freedom to drive when I want, where I want on nice, smooth roads.  Options also overwhelm me, people have asked simple questions like “would you rather have a bagel, toast, or croissant for breakfast?”  Surprise me, I can’t decide (in Kenya it’s toast…well at least it was before going gluten free!)  Walking through a Meijer’s saps my energy (or maybe that’s from not eating bread anymore, hmm?).  Knowing there is a place I can stop for coffee or soda every few yards puts a small smile on my face too!

God has granted me this opportunity to spend time with family and friends and for that I am so thankful.  I know God is working a wonderful work through this time for me and for those at C4KK….the skills they are learning will be priceless.  It’s hard to explain the gratitude I feel for those around us and the awe-inspiring way in which God brings people into our lives.

I know I’ve only touched the surface of this question, but ask me in person and I can get into it more if you’d like 🙂  Have a blessed week!
