Yup, I was a missionary with a gun today. Our youngest daughter enjoys shooting (she’s learning since she plans on going into the police force) and she has several friends who also enjoy shooting (members of the Arizona militia, ex-military, gun fanatics and the like…all nice young men). This is only the second time in my 50 year life that I’ve not only held a gun but also shot one.
It kind of amazed me of how “zen like” the experience was, actually reminded me of yoga class. I know you’re thinking yoga and guns!? In yoga you are so focused on the position your mind doesn’t have the opportunity to dwell on issues….same with shooting. I was so focused on hand placement, siting the target, stance and basically not shooting anyone that nothing else entered my thought process.
It was fun but the power of a gun is a bit much for me and this is most likely the last time I’ll hold and shoot a gun.
Love it! I would totally agree with the zen comparison.
Love you guys!
