The other day the kids were busy peeling and cutting up bananas….a lot of bananas:

and others were peeling and cutting potatoes.  I asked what was for lunch and they said “bananas”.  With a look of confusion I asked “just bananas?”  “Nope” they said “also potatoes.”  I must have still looked confused or perhaps it was my “just bananas?” question because then I got the explanation of banana stew.  Still looking very confused Ann went on to tell me they slice the bananas and potatoes and cook them in a stew.  Ok, sounds a bit weird to me but once it was cooked it simply tasted like potato stew.  I was told the banana is a specific type, used mainly for dishes like this.
