While Chuck and I were in the States a little girl gave us her personal Bible.  Lily insisted we take the Bible to “the kids at C4KK who don’t have a Bible”.  After getting mom’s ok we gladly accepted her gift.

We thought of different ways of putting this Bible into the kids’ hands and decided to have a Bible contest.  The kid who answered the most questions correctly would receive the Bible (and a carrying bag my mom made).

I gave Peter and Fridah (social worker and assistant social worker) the task of coming up with a good contest and they came through with flying colors!  The goal of the contest was, yes to answer questions, but to get to the final two contestants everyone was told they were matatu (public transportation) drivers….their task was to get from Laare to C4KK.  The first leg of the journey involved all the “drivers” and went from Laare to Nairobi.  The top two “drivers” from that leg of the route would then answer more questions in order to arrive at C4KK where the top driver would receive the Bible!

Here’s a video of the kids beginning the contest with a song….most everything in Kenya seems to involve singing 🙂

Questions began and the “matatu’s” started moving!

Bible-contest-and-winner-(Elijah)-(1)

At the final leg of the journey it was Mercy and Elijah in the running for arriving at C4KK and receiving the Bible. Both did excellent and most of the kids learned a few Bible facts in the process (unforgivable sin, first 5 books of the New Testament).  Final destination was C4KK with…..

Elijah as the top driver!  Congratulations Elijah!

Bible-contest-and-winner-(Elijah)-(3)I think this may be a contest we do every so often.  The kids loved it and they actually learned a thing or two 🙂  Now to figure out what the prizes can be…..
