Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.” Matthew 21:21
Has anyone else ever thought….”well, God if you do xxxx, then my faith would be stronger and I could tell this mountain to ‘go, throw yourself into the sea’ and it would.”?
That was my fleeting thought this morning as I read that but then I was reminded of Peter walking on the water. He was WALKING ON WATER but then was distracted by the waves and wind around him. Boy how many times has God saved me from various situations where I should have remained focused on Him yet looked at the waves around me? Once I acknowledge God’s salvation my faith is strengthened, but then trials, struggles, betrayals come into play and I cry out again “Lord, save me!”
The past day or two I’ve been struggling with keeping my focus on God and not the waves around me and this morning God reaffirmed His place in my life and reminded me of His love for me through difficulties. “Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, is Lord over the very beginnings and endings of our lives. Today is His, completely. Everything that concerns us—from being born to dying—is in His control.”
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
I thank God for His forgiveness in my life for the times I start to fall beneath the waves and I thank Him for the times (every time!) He holds out His hand and lifts me up.
