In the book of Job (chapter 28) he says “the fear of the Lord–that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.”  Well I do have a healthy fear of the Lord.  It’s the shunning evil part that sometimes stumps me….let me explain.

Evil comes in all sorts of shapes, sizes, attitudes, and actions and one area I fall short in is the act of speech.  It’s so easy for me to fall into “these people” sort of talk that I ultimately lose sense of understanding the Lord.  Sure I get frustrations aired but at what cost?  After my little outbursts I do come back to the knowledge that I too am completely flawed and in need of compassion.  That’s when I confess my weakness and ask my Heavenly Father for forgiveness and guidance on how to handle situations which arise throughout the day.  My morning prayer is simple….Your will be done.

Of course I’ll never completely shun evil this side of Heaven but seeking His wisdom does help me to realize a little bit quicker that evil is on my tongue and needs to be shunned NOW.
