Today I was planning on telling you about our day in Nairobi yesterday (aww poor me kind of story) but I woke up this morning to a friends post on Facebook and was frustrated beyond words.  It doesn’t make my day any less frustrating (maybe I’ll tell you about it tomorrow) but it certainly puts it in perspective.  Here’s his story:

Two months ago he was involved in an accident. His motorbike was hit by a car and he broke both legs. He was admitted at the hospital where he was asked to pay KES 35000 so that he be taken to the theatre for surgery. His wife sold some of their belongings and only managed to get KES 5000. He has been booked for this coming thursday 15/07/14. He is stuck and needs our prayers and support for him to be able to undergo the surgery. Remember him in your prayers that God will make it possible for him.

The challenging part is that as he patiently waits for a miracle the hospital is charging him KES 1000 daily for staying at the hospital. I approached his pastor and he said he cannot assist him right now since he is raising funds for his daughter’s wedding which i understood. But i really sympathize Kennedy 30, and his family. There is no need for the hospital to continue charging him the KES 1000 daily and yet no treatment is taking place.

All the people in this ward are unable to walk for the obvious reasons and when they want to poop they are charged KES 100 every time they download. And it is cash before service. Kennedy does not have the cash and has to rely on his wife who comes twice in a day, at 1pm and 6pm. We can make a difference in this family and be a great blessing to them.

He broke the thigh bones on both legs and has been waiting for the last two months for funds so that he be taken to the theatre for surgery. They have been booking him to undergo the operation every thursday of every week, but because the wife can’t come up with the money which is way beyond her reach the hospital postphones the operation to the following week. The guy used to work as a hawker in one of the slums here. He needs a miracle and our prayer is that one will come his way soon. Praying.
