For the past few days many of you were praying for a young girl (14 years old) and her rescue and for most of those days we didn’t even know her name. Today I’m happy to report that she has been rescued from her situation and is safely with us at C4KK. We thank God for her and appreciate your prayers being lifted up!
Meet Beryl (pronounced barrel) –
I will briefly tell you her story because honestly she is more than this situation. She is God’s daughter who is loved immensely by our Father and we pray she grows to love Him and will see how very much He loves her. We pray she sees this through our love for her here at C4KK. Beryl was abducted from her home while her mother was (and still is) in the hospital. She was raped that evening by her abductor, he sold her to another man and he then sold her out for sex to others for 100/= ksh each (approximately $1.25). We were informed about the situation and began working towards rescuing her. On the day Chuck went to the town to get Beryl she had been sold again to a gang. Through various contacts she was found and brought to her mother at the hospital. There is where her mother agreed to let Beryl come live at C4KK.
Beryl arrived at C4KK around 8 pm with only the clothes on her back (torn shirt, ragged skirt, no bra or under ware). We gave her a pair of pj’s for the evening and Fridah (C4KK’s social worker who lives here and sleeps in the girls dorm) kept a close eye on her throughout the evening.
Today Beryl was interacting with the kids and Peter, the children’s home manager, said it’s like she’s been here for awhile. The kids have accepted her and treat her as a sibling! I even heard her laughing with the kids during our exercise program. Your prayers for her continued restoration and healing are appreciated.
We estimate it will take approximately $500 to outfit Beryl to begin her life here at C4KK. This includes clothes, bras, under ware, shoes, school uniform & shoes, text books, school desk (we have to pay for each students desk) , medical appointments (checking for pregnancy, std’s and hiv), bedding, mattress and much more. I would tell you we also need a sponsor for Beryl, but through the prayer line someone has already stepped up to sponsor her….praise God!
