Feels like I’ll be giving you a ‘shot gun’ approach to the updates just to get them all in. Much has been happening and continues to happen at C4KK and through C4KK Benevolence all around the republic of Kenya.
First at C4KK we are preparing four of our kids on their entrance into secondary school. They will be leaving C4KK in the next couple of days for their respective schools. Much has to be done before they are admitted into school (school fees and shopping paid for) along with getting them prepared for this new chapter in their lives. We had a talk with them and honestly they seem excited and for that I’m glad. They are bright students (one is a bit of a jokester but we are praying he will buckle down!) and I know if they put their minds to it they will succeed. Plus we have several other students in our area, Luanda and Kwa Rhonda which C4KK Benevolence is helping with school fees. Please keep them in prayer.
Here’s one of the students, Celestine from Kwa Rhonda, who was assisted through C4KK Benevolence to receive school supplies and fees so she could start secondary.
We also have three other kids at C4KK who graduated from 8th grade but did poorly. One will be repeating class 8 in order to get a higher score while the other two will continue discussions with us and Peter on how to move forward (vocational/technical school or working with a mentor in their field of choice). Please keep this situation in prayer also as we need God’s wisdom on how to proceed.
Upon our return from Luanda the truck was covered in dust and Bosco saw the kids just sitting around…..great job for them to do!
Cows at C4KK continue on with pregnancies (God willing), milking, babies and shelter upgrades.
Dot enjoys a warm, sunny spot
Dot and Precious, they are just so cute!
Precious enjoys the sleeping matGhost, our resident acrobatic cow, continues her antics.
Our guard dogs, Max and George, continue growing big and strong. They are pretty disciplined too. Whenever John (our day gate keeper) makes a particular sound they both come to him…good job guys!
Splinter has done a great job of taking care of her litter and they are now drinking milk from a dish. At first they had little milk bubbles coming out their noses as they tried to figure out the whole drinking from a bowl concept! But nothing is as comforting as mom!
While we were in Luanda we were given two chickens and when we arrived at C4KK I found another gift rooster from Sisi and her grandfather. He’s a nice looking rooster so I’m not sure about eating him! We’ll see but so far he’s safe from the butcher.
To finish up the animal section just a picture of me and Bear, he had just received his bath.
Forgive me but I forgot to post this picture when our visitor, Aminata, was here.
Ok, so as I mentioned we have several students we are helping around the Republic with school fees and school related needs but that isn’t all C4KK Benevolence is doing for kids. This week in Luanda (today was the first day) the two doctors we met and Joseck will be doing a jigger removal campaign with kids from a primary school. They will be bringing 20 kids at a time to the clinic and treating them for jiggers.
I have to say thank you to a special woman who gave me a beautiful bag which I then gifted to Joseck for his use in the jigger campaign. He will get much use out of it and I pray many are healed!
Some of you may have read the January/February 2015 Newsletter (if not you can read it here and also subscribe to receive the newsletter) which gave information about the several programs/partners we are working with here in Kenya. One of those is Wasamaria Wema where we are coordinating with Agnes (founder) on getting kids into secondary school. We visited them before going to Luanda and the kids totally enjoyed playing with my hair!
Another project is a food distribution program for street kids in Dunholm. Here are a few recent photos from that program.
Another food distribution program is at Acres of Mercy school. They recently received their February food so students there will receive breakfast and lunch (for many of the students these are the only meals they will receive for the day).
We received an update from Okemi and Ruby and their new toilet is finished and they continue to heal from the jiggers which made it impossible for them to walk. No more crawling to the bushes!
Grandma Eunice’s home received a new roof and she couldn’t help but peek at the progress.
Unfortunately with all the good being done in God’s name there continues to be evil in the world. The pump for the community water project in Luanda was stolen. Our brother and partner, Joseck, was quite disappointed and upset. The community truly had a blessing in being able to get clean water and didn’t have to walk kilometers. Please lift Joseck in prayer for the Holy Spirit to shine even brighter within him to continue being the hands and feet of Jesus.
People continue to need assistance with repairs to their homes, school fees, beds, etc. The need doesn’t stop which means our work will continue on as God provides and people living in places like this will receive assistance and be told of the Hope of Jesus Christ!
One such situation is Truphena who is a widow. All her possessions burned and she was left with nothing but a burned out home, which could collapse at any time.
A C4KK Benevolence Outreach team member has estimated the cost of redoing Truphena’s home which will be $1,000 (USD).
If any of these situations touch your heart and you feel the desire to help please visit our donation page to begin your assistance. If you’d like to donate to a particular project (school fees, home repair, water project etc.) please let us know in the comment section when you set up the donation. We continue on by God’s grace and strength even when frustrations build and it seems as if the devil is banging hard but we know “greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world“.
Thank you for your continued assistance and thank you for walking with us on this journey.
In awe of He who has numbered even the hair on our head and what He can do. Praise be to God.
