It’s been a busy morning for our friends in Luanda as they distributed food to needy families.  We have a total of 25 households with an average of 5-6 children per household and the majority are grandmothers taking care of grandchildren.

We purchase the food in bulk for cost effectiveness and then break it down for the individuals.  Every two weeks the families receive 10 kg rice, 10 kg beans and 2 liters of cooking oil.  For the month each family receives (if I’ve done my math correctly) 44 lbs of rice, 44 lbs of beans and slightly over a gallon of cooking oil.

And the oil is put into plastic soda or water bottles.

but sometimes they have help

Oh and I stole this idea from a friend.  This morning I saw the moon setting and the sun rising so I stood in one place, took the picture then simply turned around for the other photo 🙂
