We all know, at least I hope we do, that life is not always ups but downs are thrown in there from time to time. Working in a developing country with such abject poverty I tend to see mostly the downs. Recently we’ve received news regarding a few people we were assisting have passed. One was a woman who was treated for cancer. We were told she was in remission but a neighbor found her body in her hut and we have no idea what she died from (and never will know). The other was a young boy who received a warm meal but it just wasn’t enough to keep him alive.
There have been and will continue to be stories like these but I must try to see a light throughout the darkness. That light is literally Jesus…knowing these people not only received medical care or a hot meal or a warm bed but also were given the opportunity to experience the love of Jesus Christ through those actions. They died knowing someone cared and Jesus would hold their hand as they pass into eternity with Him.
You would think that would be enough to overshadow the darkness, and it is honestly other than the fact my heart has closed down some from all the darkness. Chuck and I are scheduled for a retreat with the Barnabas group and I’m hoping for help to work through some of these feelings and hopefully hear some wise counsel and even more praying God reveals Himself to us in awesome and wonderful ways.
So here are a few “lights” in the darkness:
Hidden Treasures is expanding to three days a week with the local boys living on the streets!
Our friend Joseck made a visit to C4KK and sent us this picture of our puppies, Bear and Pixie.
Children at Acres of Mercy received new shoes and school uniforms and continue receiving 2 meals a day.
The little ones at Zaidi ya Dreams continue to have healthy meals and lots and lots of love!
Thank you for supporting this ministry and in turn showing widows and orphans the love of Jesus Christ. If you’d like to help please visit our Donate Page for information and again thank you!
