Today I just have to say how blessed I am to see what Saved By God’s Grace is able to do in assisting widows, orphans and elderly living in Kenya, Africa. Through your generous donations much is being done and for that we are grateful. Children are going to school, widows are being helped with homes and elderly are given food. It’s amazing what God has been able to do through this small “mom & pop” ministry.
Even with all that is being done however, there are still many in need.
Julia is one example. She is “a widow living in a dilapidated house with her daughter and two grandchildren. The daughter washes clothes for people and hawks water in order to pay for school fees (this is her last year in high school) and fend for the family.“
When our friend visited her she was preparing corn for githeri (a typical meal in Kenya). What she prepares would see them through the week, with a simple meal of corn and perhaps beans if they are able to afford them.
The daughter is achieving above average grades despite the hardships she faces on a daily basis. The principal at her day school (this means she goes home each night and doesn’t board at the school) has allowed her to stay in school with the little she can pay because he has seen her struggles. But she currently has 57,162/ ksh ($715) in arrears (this includes her past three years in high school) and still owes 15,240/ksh ($191) for this years Form 4 school fees.
Let Julia’s daughter, Zainab, tell you in her own words what she would like.
Saved By God’s Grace humbly asks if you are able to help. We are seeking any help you can give Zainab which is:
Past school fees – $715
This years school fees – $191
School uniform and shoes – $45
