Have you ever met someone who understands where you are coming from, right off the bat, during your first introduction? Someone who holds the same passion as you even if their calling is something different than your own? Someone who lives out Matthew 22:36-40?
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
We have met people like this in Kenya and across the United States. It’s refreshing to talk with someone who embraces your passion; your passion for serving the Lord in whatever way He has asked you. One person stands out in my mind, Carol from Georgia. She understands our passion for serving the Lord in the capacity He called us to – it’s not the same calling as hers – but God brought us together because of our mutual love of Christ.
Saved By God’s Grace is called to bring the Gospel to the kids, caretakers and adults in Kenya. We do that by passing on the provision God brings for their basic needs (through your support) and teaching them about the love, forgiveness and salvation of God (Matthew 14 and 15 are examples where Jesus feeds and teaches). However, we can’t do this on our own. That’s where the body of Christ comes into play (of course it’s God’s strength that does it, but He works through His people to accomplish His will). Some are called to be missionaries outside their home country, some are called to fund the missionaries – but all are called to spread the Good News.
Chuck and I put the needs of the orphanages up to God and ask for providence. We strive, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to express our faith not only in words but with action as it says in the book of James. We do not want our faith to be considered “dead” when we stand before the throne. Is God asking you to put your faith in action? Ask the Lord, as the Psalmist did, “search me, O God, and know my heart.” He will show you what steps to take next. It may be partnering with this ministry (you can visit us at Saved By God’s Grace or The Change Campaign), another ministry or He could be calling you to be “the feet” and take the Word and His love to another community (even the one next door). Whatever your calling, remember God has told us “my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
We love you and thank you for all you have done for our children in Kenya and the glory of His kingdom.
