Looking forward to seeing friends tomorrow at Desert Breeze! We were given a tour of the facilities (thanks Daren) and it looks great! I remember years ago attending DB at the high school and Pastor Ray telling the congregation sometimes our attitude regarding corporate worship is off….we tend to (I know I’ve done it) look at worship and wonder what WE are getting out of it, entertain me so I’ll stay involved instead of it being our love song to God, our thanks for who He is, what He’s done, the gift He has given us and our time to be with HIM!
Now don’t get me wrong God can and will speak to us through worship and hence that warm, fuzzy feeling of love can overtake us and yes we are getting something out of it but that’s not the point….it’s about HIM, not us and our feelings. We should worship Him even when, and maybe especially when, we don’t feel like we are getting anything out of it.
Over the past 3 1/2 years I have terribly missed corporate worship and yes I am looking forward to seeing friends, singing praise and worship together, hearing Biblical teaching but what really puts me over the top is knowing I’ll be doing that with a group of believers, none of who are perfect yet are coming to the One who can make us perfect by the shed blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ. What an awesome privilege to be in that group!
Thank you Desert Breeze for opening up the doors of your new home, sharing Christ’s love to those around you both far and near. I pray God will continue to stretch you to limits you never imagined and bring glory to our Heavenly Father.
