Whew, much has been happening the past few days, meaning I haven’t been on the computer plus when I was ready to get down to business the electricity went out (for the whole day!).  So now here I am, Saturday morning after the electricity went off briefly getting stuff done….before a visitor comes this morning too 🙂

I guess I’ll write today about the fun Christmas party we had for the employees this past Thursday.  We had a special lunch (chicken and chips) for everyone along with a soda and chai with Christmas cookies.  We also handed out gifts we brought back from the US and everyone had a fun time as you can see from the photos.

I spent a few days beforehand baking cookies.

Then Isaac and Dan came over to decorate all 200 cookies!

Before lunch began Chuck gave a brief message on why we were celebrating the birth of our Savior and prayed for the day.

It was a delicious meal.

Then we handed out gifts.  Chuck expressed our thanks to each employee and the qualities they individually bring to C4KK.

Charles is the Chairman of C4KK Board and we were happy he could join us for this party.  He was very helpful in working with Bosco during our visit to the US and continues to be an integral part of C4KK.  Charles is also the one who did all the iron work in the children’s home and the mission home….thank you Charles!

Peter is our social worker who continually has insightful suggestions on how to handle the issues which arise at C4KK with the kids.

Benjamin (with Faith, his wife, and Timothy, his son and our Kenyan grandson!) is one of our general laborers .

Christmas-party-(16)

John is our night watchman and is one dude you wouldn’t want to meet in the dark, especially with his new machete and the bow and arrows which are always in hand!  His wife was also able to join us.

Christmas-party-(13)

Roman is our shamba manager and looks a little too happy with his new throwing ax!

Christmas-party-(11)

Amos, Francis and Phillip are general laborers at C4KK and are hard working individuals.

Christmas-party-(15)

Joyce, with her family, is our assistant matron and always has an upbeat attitude at work.

Christmas-party-(14)

Bosco along with his family (with two extra girls in tow, nieces staying with him during the holiday).  What can I say about Bosco except how very grateful we are for the commitment he has shown to C4KK and the children living here.  You are a blessing my friend!

Christmas-party-(6)

Ann is matron (house mom) for the 26 kids who call C4KK their home.  She prepares healthy meals for the kids, makes sure they get to bed on time, reports health issues, assigns chores and coordinates with Joyce on keeping the clothes and compound clean.

Christmas-party-(7)

Ann and Joyce were given aprons (from my mom) for Christmas and they were so happy with them…actually saying they had wanted aprons for some time!

Then it was chai (tea) and cookie time!  Not one cookie was left!

Chuck teases Kevin on the amount of cookies he intends to eat….growing teenage boy!

Christmas-party-(28)

We were told the next day that the little ones didn’t want to put their toys down.  Bosco said his youngest, David, even slept with his truck!  And here’s a couple of our “grandson” in his adorable hat we brought for him!
