Yes I know it’s the day after but you’ll have to excuse me for being a day late, we had a wonderful time at Bosco’s home and got home late…just in time to have popcorn for dinner, skype with family and bed 🙂  But here’s our day in pictures:

It certainly is not a celebration in Kenya without chapatti!

It amazes me where I find seashells around here in this dry area.

David, Bosco’s youngest, enjoys playing with a balloon and Ann (his mom) is not bothered one bit by blowing it up several times…even in the midst of cooking!

WARNING vegetarians….this next photo was lunch!

Before sitting down to eat (I had the chicken, no goat for me!) Bosco showed us his shamba (farm) and we visited a few friends.

We stopped by his maternal grandmothers home (I posted a video yesterday of her) and not only did she sing for us but she gave Chuck and I a traditional blessing….she spits in our hands, says a few words and we rub the “blessing” onto our chest.  I truly felt blessed by this 110-ish woman praying a short blessing over me, what a beautiful soul!

Then we walked around the area, said hello to other friends and saw some specs of beauty (other than friends!) and intrigue.

This outhouse was in the middle of a field….how do they enforce the privacy issue I wonder?

Then it was back to Bosco’s where Ann (Bosco’s wife) and family members were hard at work getting the food ready and served.  Ann did a wonderful job for her first hosting of Christmas Day!

Afterwards I had to take a photo with Mama Bosco who ALWAYS has a smile on her face and is one of the happiest women I know!

And another photo with Bosco’s paternal grandmother…she does smile a lot too but she was a bit confused by me holding a phone in her face!

Chuck presented Bosco’s dad with a Christmas gift and he readily pulled the machete out of the sheath and waved it around like an expert!

After dinner the kids enjoyed the Christmas cookies I had baked for the occasion (thankfully they were pumped up on sugar at their homes not mine!)

And lastly Bosco’s dad wanted a photo with most of his grandchildren.

We are ever so grateful to Bosco for opening up his home to us on Christmas Day and for the work Ann put into the meal (it was delicious).  God has blessed us with a good friend, someone to celebrate His birth with.
