Apparently it was a scheduled electricity outage today but we didn’t know about it until we called them. At least we know (ok, hope) it will come back on at 5 pm, the time they said, rather than electricity going off with no clue as to when it will return. Now to be completely honest we have had really good luck with Kenya Power. It’s gone off for seconds at a time and a couple times when it’s stayed off we’ve called and it’s come back on within an hour….so really nothing to complain about 🙂
So for today we’ve left the generator off until around 2 pm and now that it’s on we are pumping water into the tanks, charging phones, using the internet and cooling the refrigerator again. We’ll probably leave it on for about 2 hours and hopefully electricity will be back on around 5 pm. A big thank you to the donor who helped us get this generator!
Just thought I’d give you a little glimpse into daily life here in Kenya.
And as an update on the kids…..secondary kids are doing chores in the morning while the primary kids are tutored and then after lunch they switch, primary do chores while secondary are tutored. This morning after work duty I heard one of the younger kids ask a secondary boy to play volleyball, he hit the ball once but then walked off the court and said “I’m too tired”. A good mornings work is always a good thing!
