Oh the things which can happen in the blink of an eye. In the past 24-48 hours we’ve heard from two friends, each have an uncle who died recently and a friend in Phoenix is now with Jesus. My prayers to all the families who are grieving yet rejoicing because they will see them again in Heaven one day because of our Savior’s gift of salvation.
It’s been a couple days since I posted and that is mainly due to electricity issues, sorry. Here’s just a little of what’s been happening here, not to complain mind you (ok, maybe a wee bit of complaining) but just to let you know for prayer purposes.
I like lists so I’ll do this in list form….concise and to the point.
1) Had a talk with our three 20 year old 12th graders on the fact they are young men and should really stop expecting someone to take care of them. Instead of quibbling over a little pocket money they should be worried about the D’s & E’s they are getting in math (long story but I told you I’d be concise and to the point).
2) Electricity was on low wattage for 12 hours then it completely went out. It’s now been out for over 24 hours because of a fallen tree on the lines, so we have no idea when it will return. We are thankful for the generator though so we can continue to pump water and use our computers/internet. Working on generator right now as the kids watch a movie.
3) Our cat seems to have been poisoned or something. We aren’t sure if it’s a reaction to her dewormer she got, we aren’t even sure if what the vet gave her was the correct medication (you just never know here in Kenya). She is stumbling around and her pupils will not dilate. We are attempting to figure out some way of helping her, right now she’s in the house resting.
4) Dealing with employees…..I’ll leave it at that 😉
By no means is this a complete list, we have several Benevolence projects on-going or in need of funds (I’ll update you on those soon) but we continue to ask for God’s providence for whichever situation He wants us to assist.
However, on a lighter note:
1) Our kids are now using the upper floor for tutoring and we will be setting up the movie projector so movies can be watched upstairs, that’s where they are right now.
2) We had a recent amphibious visitor. Bear alerted me to his presence and Chuck quickly escorted him out the door.
3) We took one of our girls to the doctor for an infection (she is now on the mend) and I had the opportunity to catch up on my newest Readers Digest.
4) Every time I eat a piece of chocolate, beef jerky, have a cup of coffee or am in need of cooling off while on the computer (heehee) I’m reminded of the great friends who recently came to visit.
We aren’t given a guarantee of how long we’ll be here and some days are certainly harder to manage than others, but I try to remind myself all I do is for the Lord. My prayer is God’s will be done each and every moment I’m here until I reach the finish line and hear ‘well done’.
