Sorry folks, this post is definitely personal in nature and has no info about the kids or the benevolence projects…..I’ll update you on those in the next couple days.
Maybe it’s the rainy, dreary, cold weather or maybe it’s the fact I haven’t had a good nights sleep in weeks (this may be TMI but I’ve been plagued with terrible hot flashes and chills) or maybe I’m just a jerk! You put those things together however and I think I went off the deep end for a bit (I’m sure if you ask Chuck there’s no “I think” about it…he’s sure!).
I wanted nothing to do with the kids’ guardians who recently came to C4KK for a meeting and to visit their child (most have never been here before and not for lack of being asked to visit their child), especially when one particular guardian took what I like to call “mzungu paparazzi” photos. Why is the white skin such a novelty? I have to admit I was rude and simply wanted to be left alone or at the least treated like a normal human being.
Stories (in the Kenyan newspaper) of greed and corruption have been somewhat overwhelming lately for me. The government officials attempt to put into place pay raises (again) for themselves while children are not eating, going to school or receiving medical attention. They also want special allowances for their wives because they are lonely….yes that was the reasoning. Doctors and nurses are contemplating a strike due to their claim the government has not paid them.
Those are just some of the highlights…oh wait, Chuck just read government officials are demanding special treatment be afforded them at an airport in Kenya…because they “deserve it”.
So I’m just going to make a blanket statement, if I’ve offended you, been rude to you, gotten angry with you or have ignored you….I’m truly sorry and pray you will forgive me as I ask not only your forgiveness but forgiveness from my Heavenly Father as well. His mercies are new every day…right!? Here’s to a new day…again.
On the bright side – it’s pizza night!
Hot and cold flashes sound familiar! Praying for peace – in you and around you in the world you live in. Thank you for all you do for these children. Praying God’s Blessing on you all! ♡ (enjoy your pizza!)
Hey, sounds like here…..hmmmm… 🙂
I think you’re awesome.
