Trying to get this posted real quick since we are now on generator. Quick look at the day….
Kids were gone during the morning to church, Chuck and I had a leisurely breakfast then headed upstairs to sit on the veranda to read, listen to music and dance 🙂
Once the kids got back they did some chores then they too headed upstairs for some music, studying and then a movie.
Just as Chuck and I finished dinner and the kids (almost) finished the movie electricity went out. Here’s my conversation with Kenya Power:
Me: I’m calling on account number 1234567
Operator: This is Caring for Kid’s Kenya (they never get the name right) in Joska, along Kangundo Road?
Me: yes
O: where are you located?
Me: didn’t you just tell me Joska, along Kangundo Road? Do you want me to describe exactly where we are? (remember we have no addresses so I guess I could have told her go past Joska and the first dip turn at the big tree, then come interior around the school and you’ll see us…maybe that would have made it a little more clear)
O: Oh, what’s the problem?
Me: Electricity went out 15 minutes ago
O: Is the entire neighborhood out?
Me: (what I wanted to say was ‘does it matter? we’re out!’) Yes
O: here’s your reference number, we’ll send someone out
Me: thank you
Those conversations have been extremely frequent lately, unfortunately.
Anyway, the kids decided not to finish the movie, it’s around 8 anyway and they have to get up early for school. Guess I’ll go heat some water for bucket bathing (showers won’t work on the generator).
It was a beautiful Sunday overall and I pray you are being blessed with rest and restoration, I know I was 🙂
I love the picture of you two dancing on the veranda
