Most of us I believe need a smack in the head once in a while to keep our perspective in line, maybe not a literal smack but you get me. How easy it is to fall into the “poor me” mentality even when things are going relatively smooth.
Yesterday I had a headache all day long but throughout the day I was able to take medication with clean water, relax in a soft chair, veg in front of the tv, check emails, view Facebook, post some photos to the blog, eat three meals, have a cup of tea, play with our dogs, wash dishes with running water, take a hot shower, pull down the covers on the bed and slip into a comfortable bed to sleep.
Then I received my smack in the head (and honestly I get these “smacks” every day with the situations we face)…
In this house I found this widower and his two children living a lonely and abandoned kind of life. The man and his last born son just came out of the hospital recently and are still very weak. They told me they have been surviving on termites and wild fruits especially raw mangoes. It pained my heart seeing what these little ones are going through. I prayed with them and told them that I will share with my friends and see if we can build them a 10 by 10 house to cushion them from the cold. I think the little baby needs to see a good doctor urgently
Visited this widow today and prayed with and for her. She is homeless after her house was destroyed by the heavy rains currently being experienced in this part of the world. She sleeps in the toilet since she has some jiggers on her body while the children sleep in a neighbor’s kitchen. During the day they sit on the grass that was once their roof. No one cares about bringing them food considering that Marie is sickly and weak meaning that she cannot work to make ends meet.
