The book of James is one of my favorite books of the Bible. It talks of not only listening and hearing what God has to say, but also doing what He says and living how Christ asks us to live.  It’s about showing my faith in a tangible way and that in turn will show Christ to others.

This happens quite often through the outreach in Kenya.  People who are desperate are given food, shelter, medical care, a bed, or whatever else may be needed and we are able to provide and they wonder ‘who are you?’.  To which our team members tell them they are people who love God, God loves them and are loving others through His love.

Patrick popularly know as “Panya” walked in our (Joseck’s) compound hungry and not even sure if we would let him in…but to his surprise, we ushered him in and sat him at the dining table.  “All of my life I have never been treated so well like you did to me today…I feel so loved and I am wondering what kind of people are you because the world has rejected me.  I am not a mad man, the stress of being rejected causes me to look the way I am….nyinyi ni watu wa Mungu kweli”…meaning ‘you are truly people of God’.

Yes God is being seen and more are being drawn to Him through team members who are that “kind of people”.  Being a doer isn’t just being on the ground, it encompasses much more…sacrificial giving of my time, money and talents.
