Many of us have probably never had to choose, out of necessity, between two food items.  Living in this land of plenty we make choices simply to cut down the options.  But this family of orphans (I told you about them here) had been without food for several days and our friend Ben tells us this:

We were voting here on who wants chapatis and beef stew and who wants chapatis and beans. Beans had five votes and meat had one. It’s long since they had meat so they weren’t sure whether it’s affordable hence the reason they all chose beans. I am glad we are helping them.

Look how excited they are not only of having food, but given the opportunity to choose.

Construction was beginning on their new home, Ben was there and he noticed they were hungry…

[I] quickly went and bought them some food and basics from my personal money. They told me every since their parents died, they have never tasted chapatis even during Christmas days. Today was Christmas to them.

FYI-chapati is a flat bread and a real treat for many Kenyans.  Christmas is usuallly the time families will splurge on this delicious bread (ask anyone who has visited Kenya and I bet chapati is at the top of their favorite food from there!)

No one cares for these little ones. Their uncles have abandoned them too.

Measurements for the new house. There was some disruption after one of the uncles opposed us supporting the kids. We are seeking help from the local authorities. The chief agreed to help with the smooth running of the construction.

Even with the little they have they prepared some strong tea. (strong tea means there was no milk to be added)

There old home was falling apart and was not adequate shelter for this family.

Progress on the home continues.  →

Praise God for His provision and please consider a donation to Saved By God’s Grace to help us build more homes, pay school fees, assist with medical bills and so much more all while showing the love of Christ to many!
