A lot has happened and has been accomplished over this past week. A couple of those “God moments” have occurred and He has brought me close to Him once more. I thought a lot about the Israelites and their relationship to God in the Old Testament over this past week. God had them wandering in the desert for 40 years and established a daily sacrificial system with strict instructions on how and when things had to be done. As I meditated on this I came to the conclusion that part of the reason that God had them doing so was so they didn’t have much time to screw-up…but they still did. Life kept getting in the way of their relationship with God and He had to keep bringing them back to Him (with strict discipline none the less). It is no different today (except we do live under grace and not under the law because of Jesus). The more time I spend on “life things” and the less on God (Scripture, prayer, service) the more I become part of the world rather than His light in the world (then He has to discipline me and bring me back). I have to remember that loving and serving God are the most important “life things” and all else should rotate around that. We must get to the point, through the Holy Spirit, that whatever ministry we are called to (and we are all called to a ministry) we yearn for it more than life itself so He will be glorified in us and our actions. When we come to that point we will be putting our faith in His grace and promises and loving Him above all things…let Him lead, we need to simply follow.
