I was actually looking forward to this past Monday because I was going to the Academy to update the student database for Nice View. You know, promote those who were promoted to the next grade level, add new students and such. It started out well enough until students and/or guardians started showing up. Then it turned into a “no” Monday. No we can’t pay for your school fees, no we can’t stock up on headache meds, no we can’t buy paper for school forms.
One bright spot came when a student came in to visit and get a few items for secondary school (some we actually had in storage to give him!). He has been out of school for a year because his family was unable to send him. His mother died and left him and his 8 siblings with their father. The father is a subsistence farmer and is unable to pay school fees. Last year we decided to help him and this year he starts secondary school. He was so excited to start and kept saying how thankful he was for the opportunity and that he couldn’t waste this chance.
Seems God sets a tiny, bright light into my days that seem to be heading in the wrong direction. Yes most of that “wrong direction” is from my frame of mind, but oh how thankful I am that God doesn’t point His finger at me and scold, He simply shines a little sun and directs my gaze back to Him.
