Wow, my mom turns….ok I won’t divulge that information but suffice it to say she looks pretty darn good for her age!  Here’s a hint…this photo was taken during her 70th surprise birthday party last year 🙂

My mom and I have been through a lot of life together, some good, some not so good and some just great.  I know while I was growing up I really didn’t appreciate the sacrifices she made as a single mom raising 2 girls but as I have gotten older (and hopefully wiser) I’m so proud of her.  She worked hard and I never felt we were missing anything…there was always food on the table (actually very yummy food, mom’s a great cook!), a roof over our head and clothes to wear (I never missed not having designer jeans…maybe I did have them if mom found them at a garage sale or something!).

Mom makes me laugh at her antics, stumbling onto Skype and we were able to talk (believe me mom is NOT computer literate so this was a miracle!).  She makes me worry, will she one day cut a finger off with her electric saw?  Through it all I know she loves me and I love her dearly…….happy birthday mom!
