We’ve had a couple of posts on Madina (check those out here and here) and her medical condition. We had been told (by a local clinician) her diagnosis was elephantiasis, but with her recent visit to Kijabe Hospital Dr. Peter Nthamba has diagnosed her with early stage Lymphedema. Here is what Dr. Nthumba emailed us Thursday after his appointment with Madina:
“Hi Chuck,
I saw young Madina today – she has very early Lymphedema – may be a condition she was born with, but is only now showing up.
I suggested a few things to do, including graduated stockings, regular penicillin prophylaxis, shoe wear, and foot care. She should do fine with conservative care. No need for surgery at all.
God bless, all the best.
God-willing, I review her in December, to make sure she is doing fine, and following instructions. The primary thing is to avoid injury to her foot, and subsequent infections which are difficult to treat in this condition, and make the leg worse.
In Christ,
Peter
Gen 28:15 “Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.” “
Thank you Father for this wonderful doctor who was willing to see her and give us advice on how to care for her. Please pray that Anastacia (house mom at Mercy where Madina lives) and Madina can follow this advice and pray for Madina’s safety and care of her leg.
And that brings me to how we can continue helping Madina and the other children at Mercy, Eldama Ravine and Nice View Academy. Please prayerfully consider becoming a monthly supporter either through the donate link (upper left of this blog) or at The Change Campaign.
And for those already helping, a big THANK YOU!
How amazing that the doctor sends his message in the name of Chirst. Thank you Jesus for your saints proclaiming your name in all its power. Praise God!
