There is an area on the compound which is being transformed into a play area for the kids….an actual space dedicated to play!  I don’t think the kids understand really what is happening, that the space is for them to play in, but as it evolves they’ll see.

It started by digging out the cotton soil (which turns to a mud pit during the rainy seasons) and filling it back up with stone

Then gravel is put on top of the stone and eventually sand will be the last layer

from left - Edward, Daniel, Emma, Isaac & Pius. Before sand is put on top, the gravel needs to be pounded down and what better way than to jump up and down on it!

But my favorite thing about the above photo is Edward’s smile!  He smiles more and I love to see it!

We have a group coming in August to visit and they (from what I’ve heard) will bring some finishing touches to the play area!  Can’t wait to see the kids’ faces and to finally see them enjoy their space.
