Well the gang got to experience a real Kenyan day….as John was preparing breakfast (it was still dark out) the electricity went out.  He had to finish cooking eggs (on a gas stove) by flashlight….apparently they turned out ok as the group finished them!

Yesterday it was my fault for no blog post….I was pampered during the evening and didn’t stop the pampering to get a blog post out!

Without electricity today did make for a “thoughtful” day….couldn’t charge iPods (to be used during the kids’ program), my phone went dead (no posts on Facebook throughout the day), no computer to post blogs.  With that said let me catch you up on yesterday and today.

Progress continues on the animal shelter

We had a bit of water issue but good minds to discuss the problem and come up with a solution.

Bonface shows off his science experiment. He and Edward saved “Bob the worm”!

Chris helps with the egg drop…the kids said they have never had this type of experience in school before!

The day was pretty exhausting for Sheba as well…she seems to have claimed the office as her personal suite!

Since Chris was up here anyway he checked the water level!

Then (as mentioned in yesterdays post) I was pampered in the evening while the kids watched George of the Jungle (a hit!).

Now to today:

Still working hard…it’s hot out there in the sun but these guys are troopers!

Thanks Scherie for the awesome rocket experience with the kids…they loved it!

a pretty butterfly in the field

Afternoon program with our neighbors (HOREC).

Even Sheba wanted in on the celebration! She kept biting at Bobbie’s ankles!

What a wonderful site!!! This is Chris and Caleb.

George and Eric arm wrestle with the kids

Ok, I think that brings you up to speed on things here.  I will get a photo tomorrow of the progress on the animal shelter….they have done such a great job and we can’t thank them enough.  The ladies have been showering me with food gifts (trail mix, chocolates, crackers, etc.) and it sure is nice for a change of pace…thanks ladies!

Hoping tomorrow is ok with electricity so I can post again….but as they say, this is Kenya!
