I’m just writing a quick post to give you an update on my day yesterday (Tuesday)

5am – get up to leave by 6 to Nairobi for an 8am appointment at DT Dobie to get the truck serviced (which we had called last Thursday for the appointment)

7:30am – stuck in a jam in Nairobi

8:40am – finally made it to DT Dobie and checked in

9 – noticed we had the “unbooked” number so Chuck went to check on that

9:30 – finally have the correct “booked” number

9:45 – check the truck in for service and told they would call us throughout the day for updates

10 – our friends Pastors Wachira, Joseck and Oscar came with us to DT Dobie for company and we begin walking to Oscar’s past work place to have lunch with his friends there

10:30-1 have lunch but I’m starting to not feel too good – headache, body aches and just plain yucky…I think it may have been the drive into Nairobi

1 – head back to DT Dobie to check on the truck…they haven’t called us yet

1:30 – arrive at DT Dobie and sit in the reception area…I actually lay down for a bit until one of the receptionist’s open a VIP room for me to lay down on the couch (thank you that was a blessing)

3:30 – Chuck wakes me up saying “you aren’t going to be happy”.  DT Dobie says the service we are getting on the truck is a mandatory 2-day service and we won’t be getting the truck back today.  No one EVER mentioned this while making the appointment, or when we checked-in, or anytime during the morning or afternoon they saw us sitting around.

4 – DT Dobie serves us tea (at least they were civil in that area) while we try and figure out where we are going to spend the night.

4:30 – Pastor Wachira looks at us and says…stay with us!  Thank you Pastor for opening up your home and making arrangements for us to get to your home.

5:30 – George (a friend of Wachira’s who came to pick us up) arrives and we head to Wachira’s home

– during the ride we were in a jam and I was getting car sick and had a headache….not a good ride

7 – arrive at Pastor Wachira’s

during the evening I lay on the couch and finally around 8 I take Excedrin PM hoping to just be knocked out.  Catherine (Wachira’s wife) makes a bed for me in the other room and I crash.

Now it’s Wednesday morning – my headache is pretty much gone, I believe more by the power of prayer that Pastor Wachira prayed over me and a friend in the States than anything else.  I still am pretty achy and weak but God brought me through the night in a comfortable environment.

I must say a big thank you to Pastor Wachira and Catherine for their hospitality…Pastor Wachira was like a little kid when we agreed to stay at his home but I’m just sorry I was ill last night and couldn’t enjoy their company.  But I see many more times together with them and I guess they saw me at my worst so it can only get better.
