Isn’t that from Saturday Night Live!?  Well I’m no Gilda Radner (probably aging myself right there) but here’s my weekend update:

Saturday we had our final spelling test…my final that is until Peter takes over at the beginning of the year.  The kids told me when their teacher gives them a spelling test she simply says the word, no definition or example of how to use the word in a sentence.  This was a difficult test for some, especially in the use of the word.  But so far (haven’t finished grading them yet) I’ve had one perfect paper!  Unfortunately many of the kids could not (couldn’t…one of our spelling words) understand my pronunciation.  They confused ‘heard’ with ‘hard’ and ‘certain’ with ‘satin’, again since (another spelling word) they have not been taught the correct pronunciation or the definition they did a pretty darn good job and I’m proud of their effort!

After our spelling test we do a little stretching/yoga which everyone seems to enjoy.  They, however, are beginning to not like down dog!

We recently had a cow…haha!  But seriously, Tasha had her baby, a bull we named Magnum.  He was having a hard time eating so we decided to milk mom and bucket feed him.  They were having a hard (not heard) time getting him to suck on the bucket (it has a nipple attached to it for him) so they called in the “mom force” aka me!  I soaked some cheesecloth in the milk, put it to his mouth and for several minutes tried to coax him to suck.  He started licking it then finally sucked on the cheesecloth…success!  I then took him to the bucket and he began sucking and boy was he hungry.  I’ve been with Magnum now for every feeding and he seems to associate me with food because as soon as I walk into his pen he will follow me directly to the bucket and eat heartily.

Recently Rosemary came to visit and introduced us to some of her friends….Stanley, JohnPaul, Moses and Karioke (I’m sure I spelled that incorrectly, sorry).  They are in the scouts and travel around encouraging young people to stay away from drugs, use their talents and love God.Rosemary-visiting-(1) Rosemary-visiting-(3)

So I tell you that to move into this next photo.  Rosemary brought a bunch of bananas with her and I decided to make banana muffins for the kids to have during movie time on Saturday afternoon.

Then on Sunday we had a graduation celebration with the Class 8’s and Form 4’s.  We had chicken and chips along with a cake.  What an accomplishment these young people have done and we are so proud of them all!

Guess that will catch (another spelling word) you up on what’s been happening here this weekend.
